The puppy blues

Updated: Apr 15

Do you feel tired all the time? Exhausted from waking up in the night and from cleaning up your pup’s accidents?

Do you wonder if getting a puppy might have been a bad decision? Or if this was the wrong time?

Do you get frustrated at your puppy and think they should know better? Think they are behaving badly just to annoy you?

ITS OKAY!!

It’s totally normal to feel that way!

You’re not a bad pet parent. You’re just tired, overwhelmed, and out of your routine.

People expect these feelings when they have a baby, but not so much when you get a puppy or new dog. In reality, you have a toddler that doesn’t wear a nappy, bites, AND doesn’t even speak your language. That’s MUCH harder than a baby!

On top of all that, you’ve got less understanding and less support from friends and family, because “how hard can a puppy be?”

Everything that you are going through right now, and everything that your puppy is going through is normal! (I promise!)

Puppies mature in phases, and ups and downs are normal. Set backs, or bad days are unfortunately part of the process. Everyone has bad days!

So much of the puppy stages need lots of supervision. That takes a lot of work from you, but you’re not alone! Think about your support network, whether that be friends, family or your dog trainer! The support from these people can range from a coffee out and a rant about your puppy, all the way to them taking your puppy off you for the day so you can have a nap and clean the house!

Take a break, look at cute puppy photos, and grab a freebie or two to help you out...! My gift to you for having a cute puppy! :D
